Thank you for checking in! Things have been going great! Just real life hath taken over.
I hope to be more active here again at some point. Catch up with the cool folks I've met like you. But until then... Just the rando Pokรฉmon drawings and the occasional #MMHM.

I wish I could read The Stormlight Archive again like it was the first time.
I also wish I could watch Vikings again like it was the first time.
So many amazing, profound, powerful, and heartfelt scenes in both series.

I still want to be impactful and thoughtful but each post usually took a couple hrs of research and lots of thoughts and intention behind my words.
Time has been more scarce for me but I still want to continue posting about men's mental health.
So I'll be making shorter but still meaningful posts.

I just posted a #MMHM post on a Thursday. Lol.
I really want to continue this series but due to changes in my life and schedule, it's been hard to keep up with it. I plan to restructure this series so I can be more consistent and adapt to my current life changes.
Main change will be shorter posts.

Part of healing is letting go. Allowing ourselves to feel joy and be soft. This can be an seriously difficult when all we've really known is pain.
Yes, our trauma can help us grow and we can gain behaviors and traits that help us survive in this difficult system.
But we need to allow joy in!

This vid resonated with me and, more so specifically, the statement that our trauma and our gifts are woven in together.
I highly believe this. Though, IMHO, there should still be care in this thought process. We shouldn't cling to our trauma just because it's driven some beneficial behaviors.

This is how we end the cycle. This is how we end generational trauma. We heal our wounds so we don't pass them down to the next generation.
We need a world with better men. Better boys to become great men.
We need to show up. In every way.
Address your pain. Manage your emotions. You got this!

When we address our Father Wound, we start to heal this pain. When we heal this pain, we are then able to contain it. Not allowing our pain to harm the people we love or just people in general.
We learn to manage our emotions and not lash out. But also not allow ourselves to be mistreated.

I was no longer passive and started to set boundaries. I started to speak up for myself. Not allowing myself to be mistreated nor abused. I started showing up and leading my own life.
I practiced this through my various relationships - friends, family. And especially with my daughter. I showed up.

After facing this, write down how the Father Wound shows up in your life. Then start to father yourself.
You most likely won't know how to do this. So do your research. "How to be a good dad".
Hint... Just show up. Show up for yourself. In every way.
Once I started to assert myself, things changed

"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious." - Carl Jung
Look at your Father Wound and learn how it shows up in your life. Honesty and courage are needed to face this wound.
It's painful but this is the first step in healing. Awareness.

So how my Father Wound affected me as an adult was I didn't really know what to do with my life. I didn't know how to lead my life and I just let life jerk me around. For years...
Another was a fear of asserting myself. Especially to women. That was my model. My father not setting boundaries.

The Father Wound can come about in many different ways. How mine came about was neglect.
I don't recall a single time my stepdad ever asked me how my day was nor how I was doing in general. I KNEW he loved me. But I didn't FEEL like he loved me.
Especially when he didn't protect me from my mother.

We need more grounded men. Men who can lead with empathy and understanding. Men who are not afraid of their inner world. Men who can hold and contain the complexities & intensities of emotions.
"Men who can feel deeply, think clearly, and act decisively."
We must step up and lead this charge.
