This isn’t about title.
It’s about respect, visibility, and influence.
Let’s stop measuring success by one narrow definition.
And start valuing SAS doctors for the impact they’re already making.

Too often, the SAS role is seen as a “stepping stone” or a “fallback.”
However, the reality is far more complex and nuanced.
👉 Many SAS doctors have chosen this path for its balance, flexibility, and longevity.
👉 They bring deep clinical experience, stability, and leadership to their departments.

🛑 MYTH: “All SAS doctors want to become consultants.”
✅ TRUTH: Many SAS doctors are exactly where they want to be — and deserve to be recognised as senior, expert doctors

Can we get more comfortable having the sweaty palm conversations - can we have brave, kind conversations that connect?
Do have a listen…

Just listened to this. Excellent. Thank you Doctors Training... credit to both the interviewers and the guest (Dr Baverstock). I found the advice regarding looking at "sweaty palm"conversation s as opportunities for strengthening connections and the reframing from "you did" to "I felt" valuable.

Staff wellbeing community care and mental health targets axed from 2025
Louder for those at the back - if we don’t prioritise looking after all colleagues who work in the NHS then we won’t be able to recover the NHS no matter how shiny the new mandate.

Advancing diversity isn’t about sidelining merit but addressing inequities that often prevent true merit from being recognised. Diversity programmes address systemic bias and discrimination

There's so much desperate need for hope in the NHS.
I just don't believe this is going to come from politicians or execs.
Hope's going to emerge out of our relationships & networks; from meaningful dialogue & sharing our experiences & being heard; from doing a decent job for patients where we can.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. There are too many stories like yours, where hierarchy makes it even harder to speak out.
We are glad to be part of the change that is so very need.

Employers now have a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harrassment.
Education forms a large part of culture change.

It's easy to get caught up in the stress of everyday life.
The Christmas break has helped me reconnect with balance.
I focused on time with family and friends, engaging in hobbies and reminding myself that making time for these things is key to our mental fitness & the ability to do our jobs well.
