Minnesota was a case in point. Of course there were covid deaths in the Twin Cities, but the most right-wing counties had per capita death rates four to five times as high as the metropolitan area.

Most of the negative remarks come from people who don't live in NY. Others lament that young people have "forgotten" 9/11. News flash: Most of today's high school and college students weren't even born in 2001, as hard as it is to believe for those of us who were sentient humans at the time.

The 24th anniversary of 9/11 is fast approaching, and social media are full of commemorations. But why for the 24th anniversary? Yes, it was a shocking event, but aren't major commemorations usually held on the 25th anniversary? I don't recall anything on the 222nd or 23rd anniversary. Hmm...

Yes, the people who spread scare stories about Muslim immigrants (about 2% of the population) "imposing Sharia" on the U.S. are the same ones who want the U.S. government to be based on "traditional Christian values."

When I was on the light rail on my way to the rally in St. Paul, we passed by a senior residential complex, one that has everything from ordinary apartments to full nursing care. There were people in wheelchairs lined up on the sidewalk holding signs and waving at those of us on the train.

Inform the media that you are going to picket your rep's or Senator's local office. Then do it, maybe while making chicken noises. Even without the media, people will see you, and other blue dots will feel heard.

Make up signs accusing your rep of being part of the Chicken Caucus, such as a caricature of your rep peaking out from behind the Capitol dome saying "Nobody here but us chickens." Or "Too scared to do the right thing." I'm sure you'll think of others.

My House member is Ilhan Omar, but many people in MN and elsewhere are "blue dots in a red sea," convinced that nothing can influence their Congresscritter or Senator.

The Canine Caucus is a lost cause. They're willing to do anything for money and power or for a pat on the head from their true god.
The Chicken Caucus is interesting. They express "concern" and "have questions," but in the end, they do whatever Tr**** tells them.

As I've posted elsewhere, the Republicans in Congress belong to either the Canine Caucus (lapdogs, attack dogs), the Chicken Caucus (they know what's right but are afraid of the MAGA voters [or blackmail?]), and the Cuckoo Caucus (MTG and similar ... cuckoos).

He has shown no interest in the performing arts. Maybe he wants to use Kennedy Center for pep rallies where people cheer for him as if he were the star quarterback for their high school.
