The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I reread it today; nothing in the law allows a president to defund PBS and NPR. In fact, Congress specifically sought to insulate public media from political pressure.

Trump plans order to cut funding for NPR and PBS Trump and GOP Congress members accuse the public broadcasters of biased and "woke" programming. The president plans a rescission, giving Congress 45 days to approve it or allow funding to be restored.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is a CONGRESSIONALLY CHARTERED independent nonprofit organization. It funds 1 to 15% of PBS and NPR member/affiliate stations, which are vital connections and services to communities nationwide. Hands off allocated funding!
