Has anyone in #MathBlueSky done the mathematics of tournament brackets? It feels like a mathy endeavor, but am interested in an accessible way of asking questions about the different number of brackets for N teams.

It’s district basketball tournament season in NM and it’s always been interesting to me how they decide on brackets with districts with a number of teams that is not a power of 2. Like, it’s interesting the ways that the create different brackets for districts of 5,6, or 7 teams.
