箱根の富士屋ホテルの、丁度真向かいにある蔦の這った古い建物、旧「宮ノ下郵便局」。今は内部をリノベして、外国人向けのホステル（Hostel1914）になってる。
　宮ノ下来る時にいつも「中どうなってんだろうなあ」と思ってたんだが、遂に宿泊する機会に恵まれた。
　夕食と朝食は富士屋ホテルを事前に予約。
　グーグルレビューとかでホストのホスピタリティが凄い、と絶賛されてたんだけど、カナさんの外国人観光客への面倒見の良さはマジで驚愕するレベルだった。
　なんだかんだあって初訪日の米国人アンドリューと仲良くなって、チェックアウト後に俺の車で都内まで送ってあげた。ホステルの醍醐味やねえ。

【出来事】
1920(大正9)年2月14日に第一回 箱根駅伝(東京箱根間往復大学駅伝競走)が開催されました。2月14日の13時に報知新聞社前をスタートして鶴見-戸塚-平塚-小田原-箱根関所址でゴール(復路は同じコースを戻る)。当時の出場校は、東京高等師範学校(現筑波)、明治、早稲田、慶應義塾の4校で、往路は明治、復路は筑波、総合優勝は筑波。

天候や出場校の都合等を鑑みながら、1月5日〜15日のいづれかの連日に開催されるという日付変動型だったが、1955(昭和30)年の第31回大会から1月の2、3日に行われるようになった。
