Maybe 100 years from now, all of our pop culture will be similarly flattened, with anything from 1970 to 2030 being represented by the same three Nsync songs.

One of my pet peeves is the absolute dominance of Scott Joplin’s rags in media to represent anytime from 1870 to 1930. Hobos during the great depression? Scott Joplin. YouTube documentary about young Edison? Scott Joplin. Soundtrack added to an old silent short? You already know.
