Frankly even those who discontinue often it's not by their choice but their hand is forced by hatred, transohobia and bigotry and once Gender Dysohoria returns with a vengeance they soon resume transition again at some point!

Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.
It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.
It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.
Transgender care saves lives.

😂🤣 Definitionally it does mean I know more than others! That's kinda the point of a medical degree! 😂 Unless you want Kevin the delivery driver to give it a go to perform your neuro surgery after reading 'A Dummies Guide to Neurosurgery!' 😂🤣😂

1. Lottery wins themselves aren't deemed income in the U.K. for tax purposes BUT any money subsequently created as a result of that new money is so interest or returns on investment are taxed. Gambling itself is taxed as a %age of stakes not consequent winnings.

.. Naturally Musk in his infinite wisdom has opted to sue but has no really legal cause of action, nobody is obliged to financially prop up a failing platform, it's a free market it it causes X to go bust 🤷♀️ Its near bankrupt anyway owing over $13bn costing $1.6bn a year!

Goes to prove Musks meddling, it's not a social media platform anymore it a far right Nazi platform designed to move the global political narrative. I'm hugely grateful to advertisers who've seen through Musks plan, the vile bigoted content and removed X funding source, advertising!...

Fingers crossed 🤞 for you! They really should be doing blood work anyway so hopefully it'll be fine!

It is a really horrible flaw in gender clinics in the U.K. that whilst on a GICs books you're usually also under the care of an endocrinologist, often you'll never actually meet them but they do oversee testing and prescribing but once post transition it's just left to clueless GPs!

I don't make presumptions over the title Dr on social media! Not all doctors are medical! A doctorate level degree in any other discipline confers the title 'Doctor' too!

Personally I really object to inheritance tax, it's an oppressive tax and dual taxation as the income or return of investment that created someone's wealth in life obviously already had tax paid when it was generated, that we then tax it again because that person has died is evil!

If your NHS GP is arsey, they shouldn't be as it's a perfectly reasonable request esoecially if you haven't had the panel of tests in the last 12 months but there are private labs who can do testing but obviously it costs so NHS is better as it's free!

I remember as a junior doc my first ever digital rectal exam on a patient quite vividly as when I withdrew my finger looked at my hand and to my trauma saw the glove had torn! 😱😮 OMG my heart sank, never scrubbed my hands so much in my life! 😂🤣

I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, that sucks, prostate cx is a horrible one. Sadly men are stubborn about seeing doctors much less having a finger up their butt to palpate their prostate and it's such an avoidable cx by a quick digital exam and blood test but I get why chaps don't like it!

.. As I'm private so can't access a patients past NHS blood test results and NHS GPs are snooty about giving NHS blood test results to private providers which is a pain but at least patients can fairly easily access them themselves now and hand them to me as it's useful to see trends.
24.11.2025 14:24 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0
.. I personally try to keep a spreadsheet of my results to see not only where they're at but trend too! It's also helpful to have lab test results in a file for yourself in case you ever opt to get treatment privately for hormones and easier to share with private doctors! It's a pain in my practice

... the NHS portal and be able to see your actual results and what tests were ordered! Also blood tests reports should tell you what your result was vs reference ranges. Check them carefully NHS GPs are rubbish for not changing gender marker and labs will use wrong sex reference ranges!

I'm really sorry your doctors were crap! I can't tell you how many times I've had to hold other doctors hands when it comes to gender medicine! You should absolutely have prolactin tested 100%! Prolactinoma is no fun! You should be able to access your own blood test results from...

.. for some utterly bonkers reason she felt safe with me and asked if I'd go with her and happily obliged at getting more radiation exposure - yay! 😂 Those lead aprons aren't that great! I was glad to help her if it meant feeling safer and getting her breast screening done!

It's kinda difficult really, boobs person dependant are fairly dense organs and we need to get views from multiple angles to be sure of good screening, glad I never had to perform it as a doctor but did chaperone a girl who'd been a rape victim (like me 😢) who was anxious about it..

Though breast screening is fairly uncomfortable getting your boobs squished during the test! Ouchies! I don't envy girls getting their smear test, it's horribly uncomfortable scraping cells from around the cervix and getting cramping but is life saving if cervical cancer is caught early.

Too be honest I would recommend getting breast screening, it is still absolutely possible for T girls to get breast cancer! If nothing else it gives you peace of mind! Your breasts are indifferent to any other girls and the risks the same. Obviously no point in smear tests as sadly no cervix.

.. listen to me when I said there is diddlysquat chance I'm pregnant and if I take a pregnancy test and it's positive ya best call the medical journals! 😂🤣 Anyhoo as I was backed into a corner by doctors who believed I was concealing a pregnancy I duly peed on a stick.. alas no mini me!

.. I'll give you £500 if you find my cervix! 😂🤣 They are meant to suppress screening for cervical smear tests in trans women but GPs are pants at pressing the right buttons! 😂 A bit like when they absolutely insisted on me taking a pregnancy test before I had an abdo CT scan! Lols! Wouldn't..

Ideally your GP if being prescribed via NHS should be routinely doing checks anyway but sadly GPs are really lacking in awareness and patient management systems in the NHS fairly pants at reminding them to test! Yet great at telling me to go get my smear test! One of these days I'll go and be like..

LFTs, FBCs, fasting lipids, fasting glucose, serum testosterone, serum estradiol, serum prolactin, FSH, LH, SHBG, U&Es and for trans girls we do conduct a PSA test to rule out any nasties growing there!

The question really is what would you want from an 'MOT'? Just to find out if your dose is optimal? An overall wellness check so checking your risk factors related too transition? I mean my patients get a fairly regular MOT with the following tested at inception of hormones:

.. waiting to happen! They might be lil pills but they aren't M&Ms!! 😂 Like all drugs there is a point where risk is > benefit and the risks scary - heart attack, stroke, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, high cholesterol, high prolactin risking prolactinoma!

It is a prescribed dose in trans females as it's really not dose that counts per se but rather blood level results but 8mg is at the very very top end! Most will be 2-4mg with some at 6mg and rarely at 8mg. I did once have a girl who self medded to 16mg a day! 😱🤯 Had to tell her you're a stroke..

.. the endocrinologist nearly fell off the chair, in females it'll vary depending where you are in your cycle with pre ovulation the highest at 390-1480pmol/L being the peak, mine was ahem 2496pmo/L 🤪 My bad! 😂 My prolactin was epic too! Told the doctor I liked being epic! 😂🤣

.. I was busted too as the hospital did a blood test on estradiol and I was a smidge off the scales as while I'd been only taking 8mg I'd taken it sublingually which gets it directly into the blood stream far quicker but unfortunately because the tablets were oral not sublingual I got hella dose..
