While I’m talking storytelling, I’m gonna drop my top five pieces of advice I usually give out:

1. Ingest as much art as you can.

Not just watch/read other things, but also go to a gallery, live show, or some other artist effort even outside of your practice. I was inspired by a dinner recently.

but yeah like slicing up a comic to make vertical because a publisher /makes/ you is the issue here. there’s always ways to do it well.

i guess my main point issss i wish people would branch out and experience page comics more for what they are!!

i think art. is cool

like it gets the job done? and it makes the art more accessible which is always cool. but it’s not the intended way to experience it and i really do believe that panel and page layout are a big part of the artform of comics

vertical scroll comics MADE for that format also rock n i wanna make one

i think it’s fine for big publishers to offer “scroll format” comics like. if they want to but i do think if a comic is made in a particular format then that will always be the desired way to experience it.

i guess it’s the same principle as watching a movie on your phone
