I think it is because /ʒ/ is coded as a “more foreign sound” due to its relatively recent entry into the language and its prevalence in French words that have been borrowed in.

I found a few notebooks I thought I’d lost years ago! They have many conlang notes and such inside. A real treasure for me, who thought an entire syllabary was lost to time. I have it back now.

Today I presented at the Conlang Adventure online event, hosted by Will Morton. I lead a basics of conlanging workshop and crowdsourced some *very* unique phonemic inventories :D
