Did my first set of 8s tonight.

Ot was a good reminder that I have a lot of rust to shake off before I will probably get on a team.

I'm thankful for the group that let me play with them. I always learn alot from others.

is there things about x rank that I think could be better? sure.
but soloq is, imho, the most efficent way to improve, even if all I do is play 1-2 hours a day soloqing as long as I approach it with the right mental and review myself, its a lot faster then just doing team stuff 2-3 times a week

I mean obviously don't play so much that you burn out, what I'm advocating for is "even if you dislike soloq, you should still play it ON TOP of practicing with a team, since soloq teaches things that you can't learn anywhere else and you can do it at any time vs scheduling with 8+ ppl"

I disagree wholeheartly, I think ignoring soloq stunts your overall growth since it limits how much practice you get(and the timing of practice) and the amount of overall situations you get exposed to

(When I say uber spike, to contextualize it, I'm the kind of person spending 100+ hours on jrpgs making spreadsheets and elaborate macro bots to level grind)

Nearly all of the community is casual-competitive at best with most people feeling too comfortable staying in skill bubbles made of their own volition over the idea of climbing the mountain to the very very top

I have only found a handful of ppl that share my uber spike approach to games tbh

You don't have to like it, but soloq is invaluable and something you have to learn to tolerate imho

Either go in with a focus goal(ex "w/l doesn't matter I want to practice my special timing") or go in knowing you will always make mistakes that you have to learn to correct on the fly

Splatoon is the only comp game where I've seen people actively avoid practice because they don't want to lose too many games which makes them think they aren't learning anything which just doesn't make any sense to me

I agree, sometimes it just works out that you have multiple really good canadines and want to move forward with a handful more sessions before you're 100%

with a team I helped form recently I had close friends fill slots whenever possible and did multiple scrims for every canadite(at least 2 per)

Oh yeah forgot to mention my team has some level of CS/Tf2/fg comp experience between the 5 of us which helps a lot

I think half of my knowledge base comes from my 3-4 years of comp yugioh (theres a regional in Louisville KY I still wanna go to at some point)

Playing guilty gear semi comp unironically improved my understanding of splatoon 10fold

I started looking at combat in spl the same way I did in gg; a set of options where the better/best option wins out, and the wincon is to select as many good options as possible

Tbc by "enforcing timing" I mean tos coming into match chats and going "hey we're over deadline I'm giving team B the last game" so as to not hold up literally every other team in the event
You see it happen especially when teams dc multiple time and "gentleman" to replay despite rules saying no

If anything I want to see the opposite, de w/ underground as standard for weekly/biweeklies to speed up the total running time and save time across the board when it doesn't need to be spent in a group stage
