The kids are correct on this one. Physical media is so important to have and preserve. I’ve become BIG into buying CDs lately and for good reason because I’m tired of depending on terrible apps for music, etc. it’s sadly going to be harder in the coming years probs my to buy DVDS.

With the shutdown now over, SNAP payments have resumed. But thanks to new restrictions outlined in President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which took effect Nov. 1, the governor’s office estimates that over 150,000 Massachusetts residents could see their SNAP reduced or cut. Governor Maura Healey has made clear that the state won’t foot the bill for people who may lose their benefits due to the federal changes. She’s calling for sustained donations to food pantries across the state to address worsening food insecurity. But advocates warn: That won’t be nearly enough.

“There is no amount of money, either in private philanthropy or in the state government to make up the amount of funding that the federal government is taking out of the system,” said Marty Martinez, CEO of United Way of Massachusetts Bay. By mid-November, half of the $6.8 million the United Way raised to respond to the SNAP suspension and SNAP cuts had already been given to organizations. And that number pales in comparison to the over $230 million the state gives out in SNAP benefits each month.

Once again I must shout: Philanthropy will never be a replacement for services the government is supposed to provide

I want jobs for humanities experts to kill AI systems.

All media mergers end up hurting writers, actors, directors, and everyone else who works in the industry. Executives, assistants, caterers, teamsters, everyone. Fewer companies means fewer jobs, period.

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

The world’s largest streaming company swallowing one of its biggest competitors is what antitrust laws were designed to prevent. The outcome would eliminate jobs, push down wages, worsen conditions for all entertainment workers, raise prices for consumers, and reduce the volume and diversity of content for all viewers.
