Does anyone know if NYTs other games have increasing difficulty through the week like the crossword or nah? This one really threw me for some reason, very happy to get a perfect game with the secret 5th category.

So close to a perfect game, but I cannot believe that NYT thinks basic synonym groups are more difficult than conceptually related groups.

I'm honestly not sure we actually survived as a nation this time.

I was about to say that I don't have enough time in the day to enjoy two things, so I do have to put one of those things down, but then I realized you meant "insult" not "drop."

Well don't leave us hanging! What were you playing wrong? The only things I can see in the photo at a glance are that you have a railroad in the canal era, but that could just be flipped by accident, and your coal and iron market are each very backwards.

I'm not even an author or writer and I've been using em dashes and en dashes for years, excellent punctuation marks, do recommend.

#NYT #Connections What the hell is a "plain" pizza?! I know you don't mean a cheese pizza, because a cheese pizza is a cheese pizza, not a plain pizza. And if you mean a pizza without cheese, I'm not sure that's even a pizza.

Haha well I think I have pretty unpopular opinions on king-making anyway. If the game's rules allow it (or more accurately, are incapable of stopping it) then I think it's almost always acceptable, with the exception that you're not doing it while you still have a shot at winning.

I don't think social deduction is in any way a "bad" game mechanic, it's just divisive; people tend to either love it or hate it.

Iron Clays might be the exception, poker chips are sufficiently "gamey" to me 😅

My #boardgames hot take is that I don't like metal coins and token upgrades. I LOVE cardboard and wood tokens; it just "feels" boardgamey.

There's one particular website whose 2FA code is the digits of my birthday in a random order every time. It's bizarre.
