If you adopt a narrow, outdated definition of socialism, Norway is not socialist. If you adopt a similarly narrow, outdated definition of capitalism, neither Norway nor the US are capitalist either. All real countries lie on a spectrum somewhere between the two extremes.

I was an off-cycle election in which not very much was at stake, so I'm not ready to count on those swings being of the same magnitude next year, but there is also no way the Trumpistas can see this as any kind of good news.

There's always this fantasy that electing someone like Mamdani will instantly change everything.
