So I heard we’re posting super bowls. Here’s a Fatimid lusterware bunny. Islamic lusterwares originate in Iraq to emulate the sheen of Chinese porcelain, but the combo with highly animated-looking Fatimid animal motifs is my favorite. He even has a little snack.

What appears to be the Beyazıt Tower depicted on a 19th-century hamam tası (bath bowl). Rebuilt in the early 1800s after major fires, the tower served as Istanbul’s fire-watch and signalling post, becoming also an urban icon within everyday Ottoman material culture.

Literatura: “La casa de leyla” de zulfu livaneli provee de un contexto muy bueno para conocer el bósforo.
Historia: hay desgraciadamente poco en español. “El turco” de Veiga puede ser útil
El castillo de yedikule es muy interesante si gusta la arquitectura militar.

⚓️En las mazmorras de Yedikule (Estambul) sobreviven dos grafitis atribuidos a jenízaros: nombres (Mustafá, ¿Abdullah?) y anclas.
Tras la abolición de los cuerpos jenízaros en 1826 (Mahmud II) y la purga de símbolos e infraestructuras, quedan muy pocas huellas. Estas marcas en la piedra son oro.
📍Şahkulu Sultan Dergâhı Cemevi (Estambul)
Dergâh (convento sufí) aleví-bektaşí construido en los siglos XVI-XVII. Cerrado oficialmente en 1826 y 1925, hoy sigue como lugar de culto clave para la comunidad aleví de Estambul.
