I'm a little amused that, even though I'm not doing anything in the US for conventions, I keep adding events to my calendar in the next 6 months.

Have like 4 more added to it recently, so we're going to need to do a big post but most are local or at least, Canada focused.

Hah. That'd make sense, and a good way to build tension in an RPG.

Might be an interesting way to build a system too, you can overdraw your plot points but then end up with negative aspects down the road (plot complications).

Agreed on there being much more 'self-insert' behavior which makes me chuckle a little. I understand the impulse, but don't really get it too much; and not what I write for personally.

Unless it's taken to absurb levels where you know it's all done tongue-in-cheek, I find that stuff hard to read.

Would it be wrong to write a progression fantasy where the MCs System gives them plot armour points that refresh? So they can then use it to break rules or do stupid stuff but it costs them?

Wanna beat an opponent 3 tiers higher? Sure. That's 3 plot armour points.

Bwahahaha! I know, right?

Let's just ignore normal social conventions. It's the protagonist. They have plot armour galore.

Pre-orders seem to be more important because of that longer time period, but I'm still wondering if rapid release makes as much sense - or more now. And if more, if shorter works, regularly is the way to go to optimise around the changes there and in Audible

It's pretty confirmed that Amazon has changed rankings, which is interesting; but mostly that it now updates once a month. It adds in a bunch of new factors including also boughts and a much longer 'tail' of previous sales, meaning that books are going to need to last longer to get good rankings

Feeling a little rough today, seized back is still aching a little and hips aren't happy because I haven't been moving around.

On the other hand, I have steak and corn and brussel sprouts. So... it's not all bad.

Spent the morning making congee because I'm ill (and 'cause it's tasty) and then reading a contract. A good one this time, with a 'no AI use or training' clause embedded within.

Pleasant surprise, only needed a few points edited and clarified.

I need to find a resume for a project, but I keep looking in my writing folder and find nothing. It might be saved in my other computer but...

The last time I sent in a resume or cover letter was over a decade and a half ago and that was to apply to be a director in a non-profit.

Yup. Super fast, no bodies required sometimes, you can 'break' the system and depending on setup, it also would not need to explain why necromancers don't already rule the world
