OMFG the BLEATING of the "victims" of VAT on private schools is one of the most insufferable lobbies in the entire social media sphere.
You're paying VAT for your little darlings. Get over it and get a life. If you can't afford it, join us, The Plebs, in the state system. 1/3
Whatever, they should all be in prison 15+ years without parole.
11.08.2025 15:54 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We (the EU) do not punish the UK for Brexit - full stop.
But we have no intentions, whatsoever, to ease existing rules and regulations or new regulations covering 3. countries.
The UK has the huge advantage of being able to obtain all the benefits from a Copenhagen Criteria EU membership.
I have worldwide all year travel insurance.
But has to bring my EHIC too when traveling in Europe.
You have to visit normal health providers.
Private hospitals and special clinics are not necessarily covered unless you have Insurance too.

Legacy agreements cannot be called as a precedent - except by the EU Council (via the EU Commission).

10.08.2025 02:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Living in West Europe you could travel across borders just showing your passport.
After 1990/91 traveling in Eastern Europe also required just a passport.
I traveled to PL/HU/CS(=czsk)/CZ/SK/EE/LV/LT in the 1990's with just my passport (was often stamped)
You needed a valid passport until 1995 for some countries and until 2001 for entering the Nordic countries from non-Nordic countries.
9 of the 10 new 2004 members entered Schengen in 2007.
Missing in 2025 Ireland and Cyprus.

It require much extra 'passport processing capacity' at borders.
This is easy at border crossings with very low traffic intensity.
But as has been seen at Dover, it can fast create long queues when traffic increases.
Trucks can see km long queues e.g. from Germany into CH (CH is not the CU)
From 3rd countries granted 'visa waiver' status into the Schengen area.

10.08.2025 01:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The rules for 3 countries are indeed not new.
They have been standardised moving from national rules to the common rules for Schengen area, but that's it until now.
The EES (Oct. 20) and next year the ETIAS visa waiver pre-approval procedure will add a little extra work - before travel.
"And never had insurance"
That was/is NOT recommended - more then, but even now with the EU's 'blue European Health Insurance Card' - better have insurance too.

I needed a VISA from the US Embassy in Copenhagen (big stamp in my passport) first time I went to the US (1973).
In spite of being Danish and traveling to visit family in the US = my US address it felt so unneeded compared to (pre-Schengen) European travel with a passport
