Cloud watched as she fell fast asleep, choosing to remain silent and avoid disturbing her slumber after she’d succumbed to the tea.

He wasn’t too far behind. Eyelids began to feel heavier as the drink worked wonders. Accompanied with exhaustion, he soon found his head lulling and himself dozing.

“Tifa…?”

That name certainly caught his attention. One of the few friends he had who could anchor the blonde. Even just the mention of her seemed to earn a reaction, expression softening slightly.

“There’s… Tifa. And the others… Right…”

“. . . What did he say?”

Now Cloud’s concerned. In his gut, the blonde already had a sneaking suspicion that it isn’t anything good. The man didn’t take to failure well. Second chances were nearly non existent as the professor could easily move on from Strife — even if he’d been Hojo’s prized

He could already see the telltale signs of Tamara dozing off. And so, he’d moved to sit his drink down and stay put. If she’s already losing, he may as well remain in place until she fell asleep undisturbed.

And then he’d hopefully doze off eventually as well.

Without it, Cloud’s left with his own troubling thoughts and the former SOLDIER before him as a means of keeping the voices at bay.

Mako blues darted down to where that communication device had once been. And as expected, it wasn’t attached to his clothing or anywhere else to be seen.

How could he get in contact without it?

“Where is it?”

Surely Zack knew exactly what he’s referring to.

“Stick.. with me?”

Strange. Cloud didn’t hold any recollection of that at the moment. Though he sensed no deception from Zack either.

It only added to the confusion and puzzling thoughts swirling around in his mind. Until—

“Wait. The professor—“

I got maaaaaybe 4 hours sleep at best like the other day. And I failed to function then. 😭

My brain is already fried because I realised I used / instead of my name

/Wide awake after being in call with friends I write with most of the night. And it’s almost 2:45am here now.

I know my brain is going to hate me in a few hours and make replying a nightmare.

Strife barely managed to get onto one knee before resigning to sitting down again.

“…What’re you gonna do to me?”

And of course, the raven’s response left it all too vague for Cloud to determine their actual whereabouts. He intended to demand further answers. But for now, he’s forcing himself to get up.

Or, he was.

He felt too unsteady to stand just yet. Likely due to his ailments accompanied with that

“Until you end up passing out, 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘺.”

He’d absolutely go along with calling her that. It felt careless to stay up out of sheer stubbornness.

Regardless of how rare his presence could be at times, forsaking rest unto he dozed off just didn’t sit right with the blond.

Nobody needed to see or know what occurred. And so, he’d withdrawn early.

Masking the discomfort in his sleep deprived state would only go so far whilst around others, after all.

After tending to the wounds on his torso once more, Strife bandages them to avoid his sleeveless turtleneck rubbing on and irritating the flesh further.

With that done, he decides to settle down for the evening— Hopefully to rest and allow himself time to heal.

Strife’s making do on a mere four hours sleep. As if that isn’t bad enough, soon after waking, he’d sustained another injury during early hours of the morning.

Gaia, this is going to be a long week.

Either way, he knew Hojo wasn’t going to be pleased - and that frightened him most.

Cloud didn’t necessarily recognise Zack even though the odd inkling of familiarity clung to his mind. His gaze darted around, expecting to find either his sword easily accessible or a way out.

Unfortunately, neither escape or fighting was possible.

“Where are we?”

His tone shifted, a mixture of

both to talk to Hojo and receive further instructions. But panic was gradually beginning to sink in.

Simply waking up in a barn really threw the blonde off guard. His head lifted away from the straw, brows furrowed and trying to make sense of it all.

This wasn’t his room back in R&D… In fact, this wasn’t a room at all.

A while passed before Cloud began to show signs of stirring. The exact amount of time remained unknown to the blonde, as did the exact location they were at.

Eyelids twitched before tired (and pained) mako blues revealed themselves, the haze of unconsciousness gradually beginning to fade as his

Of course, he could tell she was too stubborn for her own good. No attempt was about to sway her into agreeing to rest. With a sigh, he simply accepted his fate and the fact she may end up dozing off here waiting on him to grow drowsy.
