This February's guest is the brilliant Fiona Benson, reading from her collection, Midden Witch. Her poems are visceral and incantatory examining witchcraft and herbalism and giving voice to the healers and outcasts from history. Our open mic theme is spells, magic and witchcraft.

I've called on the UK Government to license gamebird shooting in England and give Hen Harriers the protection they deserve.
Please help spread the word - contact your MP today and help stop the illegal killing of these incredible birds!

Lovely, foggy Skipton. Great for another walk. And engaging with a BBC Look North (Yorkshire) vox pop, bigging up Skipton π. So my moment of fame - I might be on tonight 6.30-7 pm.

18.01.2026 11:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is my elegy to both of you. I didn't actually love you at work or at home. I got used to you both, swinging you left and right, carefully checking everything came out right though the words regularly came out wrong in places. That was my fault. You had more strength, more solidity, more heart, than laptops, or tablets. I liked the music and rhythm, even the bell, my metal keys clacking on to paper.
And here it is. Original on www.paragraphplanet.com
