Today, goes beyond one courageous man, as it is a time for us to reflect and support those who are work in hard manual labor jobs and to be grateful for their efforts.

Unfortunately, our laborers, those who are the reasons we are able to put food on our tables, are facing fear, discrimination, deportation, and loss of wages to support their families.

We are seeing this administration unfairly target undocumented including other immigrants leading to their deportation and separation of families.

Today, we honor the contributions and sacrifices of #CesarChavez.

The Korean American Democratic Committee also recognizes other labor leaders such as Dolores Huerta and Larry Itliong.

Aside from the positive impact and contributions women have made, KADC also uplifts the efforts around:
-Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls ( #MMIWG, #MMIWG2S)
- #Transwomen of color and nonbinary people who are at increased risk for fatal violence

As these Halmuni pass away, their stories and experiences are not lost on us, rather will continue to live on through our advocacy.

To this day, the survivors who are now Grandmothers/Halmuni (할머니) protest every week in front of the Embassy of Japan in Korea to demand redress for their pain, suffering, anguish, and trauma.

The statue, AKA the #ComfortWomen statue, represents the 100s of 1000s of women forced into sexual slavery for the benefit of Japanese Imperial Military during WWII. They were from numerous countries, such as #Austria, #Burma, #China, #EastTimor, #Korea, #Indonesia, #Netherlands, #NewGuinea…
