Boardgame designer, programmer, and jack of all trades. Working on 22 projects at once, which is probably 23 too many. By the way its 24 now.

Hello Constituent

it's me again, Senator Averagedem. what is happening in Iran today is simply too much. we've seen many disturbing things from this administration but now a line has been crossed

that's why I'm asking for a small donation of $5,000 to support my efforts to draft a strongly worded

Why does rubio need to fill you in on any details when you don't do anything to stop them? You want answers about the objectives of the operation, but aren't complaining about the fact the operation is happening at all or that the first strike has already killed innocent civilians?

Collaborator.

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

- Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

Why why why the fuck are they doing this? Why do the Democrats keep voting for Trump's bills and Trump's nominees? Trump calls them enemies of the state, gnats that must be exterminated, and still they help him. Un-fucking-believable.

I'm building a design tool to help me self playtest more efficiently. It's taken a month and a half so far. I think that falls under scope creep?

Scope creeping my way out of even earning a bingo!

I can’t believe we’re still having these same conversations.

I can’t believe we still have to wonder if you’re laughing at us and degrading us when we’re not in the room.

I can’t believe we haven’t burned this fucking place down.

It creates a distribution problem. With enough rolls, or other mechanics, this can be mitigated, but too many rolls can also become a tedious action. It can also feel bad if a player gets multiple bad rolls in a row, which is hard to avoid at the scale of values reasonable for board movement.

I don't disagree at all, but its artistic value is mostly invisible to non-coders, and I would say secondary to its purpose where with writing I think authorship is more important. Basically, I find "ai is just better google search" easier to knock down for some tasks than others.

22.02.2026 12:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The difference is, most code is made to do something - letting it do something in anothet context makes it more valuable. While there is a utility to writing, it exists by itself, in conversation (rhetorical or otherwise) with its author. To remove the authorship removes its purpose.

A programmer's loss of identity - ratfactor

This great piece resonates with my own sense of loss and mourning of my social and professional identity as a computer programmer as the community of software engineers embraces LLMs and continues to sink further into surveillance and behavioral manipulation-based technofascistic business models.

Because it subtly but critically shifts the point of art/culture from 'does this communicate the perspective of a person or persons working in concert' to 'does this emulate the prior communicative work or works to a sufficiently plausible degree', and teaches you to judge by the new criterion

Eh, for me part of not trusting numbers is not only about trusting their integrity but also their capability to synthesize the data coming from potentially corrupt sources, and their ability to focus on and do good work in a chaotic environment amidst management changes.

When you are building something that you are likely - and willing - to throw away, it mkes sense to do things quickly to answer whtever you want to answer. But if you are building a piece that will last, you want to make it dependable and enjoyable to work with (while you build future flaky parts).

That urge is why block is better. You think you are dunking, but it just exposes more people to it, and those takes gain power.

Cacho's Social Death remains so relevant. In it, she explains how our national identity is grounded in the idea that some people are ineligible for personhood. There are valued citizens (Renee Good, Alex Pretti). And there are people who lack human value (Keith Porter, Silverio Villegas Gonzalez).

27.01.2026 00:17 β€” πŸ‘ 62    πŸ” 28    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Renee’s killer has decades of experience and trained others on use of force. It’s not the LACK of training that’s the issue. It’s their mission, leadership, culture, morals, judgment, self-restraint and targets that are objectionable. Stop saying trained or untrained. They’re dangerous, not callow

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump β€” 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

I wasn't talking to everyone, I was talking to senator patty murray. I'm responding to a post by my senator, telling her not to vote on a bill.

I want democrats to be more inspiring so more people will want to vote for them. I'm afraid that what they have been doing isn't working.

22.01.2026 10:59 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

In case it wasnt clear - I want the dems in senate and house to stop giving votes to republican bills. I'm not telling anyone to stop voting for democrats.

I'm tired of them condeming republicans in public and then working with them and passing legislation with them anyway.

Thats exactly my point. Symbolically every vote they make across the aisle looks like collaboration. If all you can be is a symbol own up to it.
