Would absolutely devour a series of mystery books featuring a lightly fictionalized Gordon Brown analogue about a former UK Prime Minister who goes about solving crimes based on archival research and their international network of connections.

We are looking at the exterior of the Hall on a beautiful sunny morning. The sky is blue, the plasterwork between the timber frame is a warm butter yellow and the medieval bricks glow in the early spring sunshine. The flowerbed in front of the Hall has crocuses in white, lilac and purple and the snow drops are waving goodbye as the yellow narcissi pop up to say hello.

What’s better than a medieval guild hall?

A medieval guild hall in the early spring sunshine that’s what! β˜€οΈ

I attended a school by Tewkesbury Abbey where the bones of Edward IV’s younger brother are stored in an underfloor vault. George Duke of Clarence did a lot of misconducting in his various public offices and he was eventually drowned in a butt of Malmsey wine.

Sometimes we got to see the bones. ☠️

I reckon the last time the son of a sovereign was taken into custody in Britain was the Duke of Monmouth in 1685.

Cambridge students unearth Viking-era β€˜execution pit’ A burial pit containing dismembered bodies suggests execution or warfare in Cambridgeshire’s Saxon–Viking borderlands

Cambridgeshire as a Saxon–Viking frontier was brutal. This execution pit beneath a peaceful country park may be the evidence. Cambridge students at a training dig expected pottery shards, not evidence of mass killing.

This old dog was on the streets last night. She has been battling and a kind lady spotted her and called us.

She's weak and it'll take a long time to fix her but she's taking some big steps already. A gentle little soul who is safe now!

I had a great chat last week with @cward1e.bsky.social, looking back at the growth of open source investigation from when it was just a small bunch of people trying to figure stuff out, how the counter-disinformation community formed out of that, and why it's causing us all so many headaches now.

This is β€˜Wings of Ice’ - a Pegasus in frozen form. The Pegasus as you will know is on our Coat of Arms.

This sculpture will be in our garden today and tomorrow as part of York’s Ice Trail!
