Made a nice frame-by-frame fire, then tried my own shaders… and they looked better. Profiler agrees, so the animation is out and the shaders stay😶‍🌫️

Yep, and story behind it said that it was made just as joke that "quake" was ported to speccy.

When I've asked about what better - it's about tiles style. Especially, about tiles of floor.

Added double buffering for tilemap(no awful flickering), supported minimalistic animations and updated a bit tileset, supported kempston joystick.

Finished the UI design screens, then took a short break from gamedev. My husband surprised me with a new trumpet for my birthday! Turns out I play better than I thought. A good instrument matters. Don’t start with the cheapest on, you’ll fight it, not improve. Buy the best you can🎺🎸
