Rants about safe streets, housing, and occasionally energy

07.01.2025 07:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I would rather catch a longer tram than a shorter bus because at least I have faith it will arrive when tram tracker says. Tram tracker rules

Surrounding parks with highways and unnavigable stroads is a huge L. A great way to limit a cities green space usage.
29.12.2024 07:28 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I find the "cars=freedom" thing so funny because the history is actually very clear that the advent of mass motorism substantially weakened privacy rights and empowered the police.
Contemporary policing relies on roadside stops for a reason, the threshold for warrantless searches is much lower!

This genuinely scares me, as an Australian Jew
The refusal to accept legitimate criticism, and the awful accusation that legitimate criticism is antisemitic, is, imho, among the leading drivers of antisemitism, and paints our community in a very negative light.
Itβs what I feared from the envoy
Council can do a lot to reduce carbon emissions from transport β and doing so would improve freedom and access for everyone, both those who canβt drive and those who can.
22.12.2024 00:37 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Density unlocks competition. Sleepy South Caulfield with the glow up.
Set backs still suck though

There's something very frustrating about heritage listing apartments that are illegal to build elsewhere in the same suburb because of heritage policy.

Have Yarra council considered Coppin St modal filter? I rode past it today and clearly cars don't use it
11.12.2024 09:27 β π 6 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Great to see Transport Victoriaβs new safety campaign for road workers. Now make one for people walking and cycling.
09.12.2024 08:56 β π 6 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0For over two decades, Yarra has been one of Melbourne's best areas to walk & ride. A newly elected conservative Yarra council is eyeing up removing vital infrastructure

I park my bike up against a poll and get angry that there should be proper bike parking. Then I turn around and see these three lines π
09.12.2024 07:28 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0From 2 to 1: Safe cargo bike parking at destinations we go to. Or even unsafe parking but not crammed onto the footpath
07.12.2024 03:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Somehow, Melbourne seems to be heading in the wrong trajectory at the moment.
If youβre interested in improving transport choices for folks of all ages and genders, shoot me a message and Iβll tell you how you can help. πͺππ΄π½ββοΈ
Councils will do anything except use green asphalt
06.12.2024 08:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It looks like some evil council
05.12.2024 02:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Decided I should capture my thoughts on last weeks βomnibusβ motion, given 3 minutes wasnβt long to voice them.
TLDR; wrapping 36 disperate items into one giant motion and making decisions without proper process = ethically dicey and undemocratic π¬

Make all new federal funding for passenger transit capital projects contingent on upzoning, streamlining, and removing parking requirements near stations.

02.12.2024 12:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That was the one I was actually thinking about! But Google Street view hasn't been updates yet. Caulfield South glow up is finally happening.
02.12.2024 04:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow that is damning. Blacktown council planners complicit in cartel behaviour.
02.12.2024 04:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love how you are just supposed to teleport to your destination after the protection ends
02.12.2024 02:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My main housing, economic, and environmental policy is just "apartment with an Aldi". The absolute peak of urbanism. Any policy that gets us to having these all over Australia is good.
