He hopes that she will find him honorable and loyal to say the very least. He watches for her. He is already taken by her beauty and hopes that this meeting is everything he has hoped for since the feast and betrothal were arranged.

*Corlys watches as Jaehaerys nods at his words. He bows to show the King respect and Jaehaerys calls for Rhaenys to come forward. Corlys waits with bated breath as he waits for her step forth, eager to formally meet her.

- where his arrival is announced. He has high hopes for the upcoming marriage to Rhaenys. He never expected to be marrying into the royal family but this is an exciting prospect for him. -

*Corlys arrives in King's Landing for a feast. He is to meet his betrothed, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. He has seen her in passing but this feast is to make the betrothal official. His is led to the throne room -

Alyssa soon tells him that she believes him since he had known Rhaenys longer and therefore knew her better. After that, things improve between them and their bond grows stronger. They become content in their relationship.

Later, once they have been wed, Corlys listens as she confides in him that she feels like she is betraying Rhaenys by replacing her. He can understand why she'd feel this way and reassures her that Rhaenys wouldn't feel betrayed. In fact, she'd understand. It takes time to convince Alyssa of this.

Alyssa finally stops fighting and agrees. She does have one condition for doing so. She tells them that she wants to call the shots regarding any intimacy between Corlys and herself and cites her reasons. Even Daemon can't argue with her. Corlys can't fault her for it and immediately agrees.

When Daemon's plan of Alyssa being betrothed to Corlys is made known, Alyssa fights it. Corlys doesn't exactly blame her as he knows that she sees him as a second father figure. Corlys and Rhaenyra gently point out to Alyssa that the match is with someone she trusts, so she'll be perfectly safe.

He then helps her through the grieving process and they bond over their shared loss. They don't know that Rhaenyra has summoned Daemon back as a result of what's happened. While genuinely concerned for Alyssa, Daemon has a plan to use her to keep Corlys on their side unbeknownst to Corlys or Alyssa.

He tells her that he realizes that she did all she could to save Rhaenys and Meleys. He even commends her for managing to seriously injure Vhagar. He vows to make amends for his wrongdoing. She silently accepts his apology and he consoles her as she breaks down. It hurts him to see her like this.

He finds it difficult to sleep due to the guilt. One night he roams the keep and hears Alyssa out on a terrace. It is clear to him that she is still struggling with her grief. He goes to speak to her and stops her as she goes to leave. He then apologizes for lashing out at her.

He cares little that she is already feeling immense grief and guilt. At least until later on. Days pass and Alyssa never leaves her chambers. He learns that she isn't eating or sleeping and is inconsolable. This leads him to feel guilty for lashing out at her when she returned from the battle.

He backs Alyssa up on her suggestion that another dragonrider go with her. While the matter of who goes with her is debated, Alyssa apparently slips away to follow Rhaenys and keep her safe and alive. When Alyssa return with Rhaenys's body and explains, Corlys lashes out. He blames her for this.

Corly's granddaughter Baela discovers Criston Cole's movements and they move quickly to discuss plans to defend Rook's Rest. Alyssa is the first to speak up when Rhaenys suggests going to face Cole herself. Corlys and the other lords promptly agree with the young Targaryen that this is suicide.

Version 1:

Corlys sees Alyssa become estranged from Daemon over time, despite them all being on Dragonstone together. After Daemon has a fight with Rhaenyra and leaves to recruit an army from Harrenhal in a huff, things kick off.

He helps plan extra precautions to help keep Alyssa safe. As the years go by, conflict looms and sides are chosen. He chooses to support Rhaenyra, along with Rhaenys and others of the family. The Cargyll twins both side with her as well, much to his relief. He can see that they are loyal to Alyssa.
