Caratini caught Rojas’ excellent first outing. You could tell he understood how big of an opportunity for Rojas it was to face established big leaguers.

At a time where Caratini should’ve been on cruise control, just going through the motions, he was engaged and animated back there. Fun to see.

Kendry Rojas: Poor surface numbers, encouraging underlying performance (limiting walks, lots of whiffs).

Emmanuel Rodriguez: Awesome surface numbers, discouraging underlying performance (striking out a ton, hasn’t looked great in the field).

After a poor April, the next 109 games he hit 271/.382/.523 (.905 OPS) with a 24.4 K% and 13.8 BB%. He also hit 22 homers and even stole 29 bases in that stretch.

What’s the minimum number of big league-viable starters you’re comfortable having stretched out?

Just wondering how many current starters they could potentially convert to relief to boost the bullpen vs. keeping them ready if needed in Triple A.

Outman and Larnach could have MLB value, but neither should be on this team.

Beyond Keaschall getting LF reps, Emmanuel Rodriguez should be starting these games. They need to see him against MLB pitchers, not the Quad-A fringe arms he’s mostly been facing late in spring games.
