Wrote something for @thetimes.com about why JFK Jr. is popular again. IMO, what you're admiring isn't just his handsome looks and style, but the fact that he lived in walkable urban neighborhoods and had enough time for exercise, hobbies, and a lover.

Just got word that the Tacoma planning commission advanced a motion to fully eliminate parking mandates citywide at their meeting tonight, by a 8-0 vote with one abstention.

If implemented, Washington's second and third largest cities would have both beat Seattle to eliminating parking mandates.

In #WA and in high school, that is!!

Read @adamserwer.bsky.social on elite impunity. IMO this is the biggest issue in US politics, the one that underlies all others. It gets too little discussion, because discourse is so heavily governed by precisely the elites who favor the impunity, but beneath the surface, pressure is building.

Had a lovely coffee and chat with Bend mayor @melaniekebler.bsky.social this morning. The city is growing like crazy but also rapidly densifying, adding bike lanes, reforming zoning, pushing back on new gas, etc. Fascinating case study & just a wonderful place.
