It's definitely my plan (well, two decent meals because I have a VERY strong routine for breakfast and lunch during the school week). Also, after surviving Halloween in an elementary school, I will probably add a glass of wine to the mix.

Why on earth would you ask? Do you really want to know?

Slow Reveal Graphs An Instructional Routine to Promote Sensemaking about Data

For two days we've used Slow Reveal Graphs as my fourth graders explore line graphs. As I click to each new image there are loud gasps. It makes my day.

I really hate that a part of me knows that sometimes I would see that quote and not question it because this is so much the norm. Today-me managed to be surprised by it. Yesterday-me might not have clocked it at all.

I came across this in this article, which has a link to the study.

Quote that says, "The study recommends educators set testing schedules around weather conditions when possible, create better testing conditions by moving testing to cooler areas and testing during the morning, invest in updated HVAC infrastructure, and ensure that districts' infrastructure planning takes into account high-poverty communities."

I just can't with what education is to so many people currently. Students don't test as well when it is hot? So time tests when the temperatures are cooler and invest in HVAC systems. Seriously? Maybe we could, instead, consider placing less emphasis on tests that can be impacted by temperature.

That’s the kind of kneejerk dismissive advice that makes me violent. Telling people to just grow their own food is tantamount to telling them to eat cake.

I definitely did not take advantage of that the way I should have. I’ll have to remember that.

My experiences with layovers at CLT have been overwhelmingly positive. I find it to be a lovely airport.

On my way to San Francisco to see my sister for a long weekend and that brings me so much joy. All my travel taking place during the No Kings rallies and missing them on both coasts makes me sad. Thank you all for sharing signs and stories and for being out there and standing up!

Sending my usual wave as I sit at CLT for a layover on my way to SF.

This is a fabulous thread giving some really important context to go beyond the hype that is everywhere.

I will miss her. I've listened to NPR for a significant majority of my life and her voice and stories are treasures.

That’s a fascinating question. I’ve honestly never thought about it. But I can’t think of seeing any elsewhere.

I’ve never had one before this year because the ones I’ve known were so big. My current school has smaller ones and I do love it.

We are in the 8th week of school and I finally have a system for all of my stuff that means my β€œdesk” can be clear! (Desk is a bit of a misnomer because it serves that purpose and it’s also a place I use to meet with small groups.)

why are we pretending that race shouldn't be predominant when remedying racism?

it's the same problem I've always had with affirmative action being about "diversity" rather than quotas.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION SHOULD BE ABOUT QUOTAS.

REMEDYING RACISM IN VOTING SHOULD CONSIDER RACE PREDOMINANTLY.

It is good to have colleagues who care.
Remembering this, and living it, is such a struggle.

It may be old news but it still shocks me. Just the simple question of, "What actions is he taking to reach this goal?" would be fantastic.

30 years ago I worked on a cruise ship and got to travel more than I’d ever dreamed possible. I can still remember the feeling entering cities like Istanbul where armed military personnel were noticeable. It was disconcerting. Seeing the same in US cities now (we saw this in DC last week) is scary.

Ugh, I don't think timed math tests belong just about anywhere, but not in first grade! At all!
This article might be helpful to her.

Still going! We try to space out home improvement tasks far enough apart to forget how much we struggle to do them together. So far, so good!

Until I read your post, I was totally picturing Weird Al and I'm kind of sad now that it isn't about him. It would be so much more entertaining than any more AI crap.

We have needed to replace the light/fan in our bedroom for quite some time. (They stopped working by remote so we pulled the chains. The fan stopped working so I use a floor fan. The chain on the light broke so now it's just art hanging from our ceiling.) This will be a test of our marriage.

This is an important question and I feel like Shana usually gets responses so that makes me think there haven't been any noticeable protests. Can anyone shed light?

28.09.2025 15:31 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, we do. We protest in the weakest ways, attempting to inconvenience as little as possible. And the systems make it hard to inconvenience others. So here we are.
