The best way to make spears a option is to make it have longer range and more damage per tier, consistent cooldown, but low knockback.

Make lunge and charge attack (added horizontal only, damage resistance) a alternative version of it, like the trident.

Compare to the swords and axes which have more defining roles from consistent DPS + crowd control to burst damage + anti-shield + tool uses - I don't see a reason why to use a spear over these options.

Not to forget that the momentum based system steps on the toes of the Mace entirely.

I know spears are just recently released in the snapshots but the role they have is weird.
The get slower but more damage per tier, have more range (inconsistent), can pierce with M1s (enemies HAVE to be behind each other), use speed for more damage for the M2 ability.

I definitely think all the content we say in the UNDERTALE stream is gonna be a either paid or free DLC.
