Something I did not anticipate with deleting TikTok is that it’s been harder than I expected to fill that niche in my mental ecosystem. Yes, passive dopamine machine, but one that could also be informative, creative, and surprising. I need a replacement, but I have no idea what, and maybe not videos

Things are mostly scary and bad but I got to crunch around in the snow for a couple of minutes last night and that was a welcome thing

all the #BookTok slander I’ve been seeing the past few days by other bookish communities is quite frustrating ngl. While yes, the most popular side of BookTok definitely has its issues, the side I was on always recommended diverse books and championed marginalized authors. #diversebooks

Well, guess that’s my sign to get the F off of here 😅

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

Now is a good time to get those banned books into your personal library. I fear they’ll disappear.

Just remember, it is ok to be happy. It is ok to walk on bright sunny days and eat an ice cream and look out at the ocean. We cannot bear the weight of the world if we have no inner strength supporting us. Allow yourself the right to live.

I am scared for my friends, my family, my cats, my livelihood, and my ability to eat safe food. If I focus on the fear, I'll come apart. So I do what I can, send my letters, make my calls, support as strength allows, and hope that can be enough. I was built to whistle past graveyards, not dig them.
