The most insidious thing about propaganda is, it actually works better on people who believe they are too smart for it. Acknowledging biases actually helps mitigate them in general. There is plenty of research supporting this.

So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.

Great example of how important language is in supposedly "neutral/impartial" reporting. Right wing extremist Holocaust deniers who reject the authority of the pope (FFS) aren't "traditionalist Catholics."

"Good" vis a vis art is the result of so many small decisions and so many little applications of effort, skill, judgement, and care. Individually those things might each seem meaningless but in aggregate they matter. They can matter more than anything.

So often as creatives or creative directors or project managers, we're asked to make decisions about what's "worth it." What's worth the money, the time, the extra effort. And we can make models and spreadsheets and calculations but a lot of the time we have to guess.

Makes me think about what makes a work like a movie or show or any other thing that has so many parts and people working on it "good"? If you asked, Is it worth it to spend a whole day wandering around the playground recording sounds, would the answer be yes?
