“Today’s forecast tells us that we in Minnesota have made sound decisions that put us in the best possible position to face the challenges ahead. In this present moment, we have a surplus, a stable economy, and the strongest budget reserve in state history. The DFL will continue to stand up for our kids, schools, families, hospitals, veterans, people with disabilities, farmers, and seniors. And we will pass a balanced, equitable budget that does everything we can to protect Minnesotans from Trump’s chaos and Elon Musk’s chainsaw.’

The only thing that has changed since November budget forecast is that Trump is now the President. He has cost our state $160 million in his first 50 days in office.

HF 12 - a bill seeking to limit the full participation of trans kids in sports - failed to secure the 68 votes needed and did not pass in the Minnesota House.

Compared to 2017, it feels like most of the institutions we count on to protect democracy are weaker now. The courts. The media. The Democratic Party.

One institution, however, is *without doubt* in a stronger position to fight fascism now than in 2017: the American labor movement.

They invited parents of Bruce Vento students to come share stories & expertise with educators & administration & learned about how site councils can be a critical part of student success by bringing in family & community voice.
