Having brunch at a cafe in Gran Canaria run by a couple of gay German expats. Just got gently scolded in a Swabian accent about leaving a tiny portion of leftovers on my plate, which is the most German breakfast experience I could possibly have had in a completely different country.

Extremely evil! This has happened to me before (I should know better at this point), and every time I switch wagons followed by a crowd of confused international tourists.

"This isn't the airport train? it says airport right there! Where are we going? WHY ARE WE GETTING BACK ON THE SAME TRAIN?"

Oh FFS, I completely forgot about "the last wagon of the airport train will be quietly detached at some part of the trip and goes to a different town." This is neither announced nor marked in the train. Fortunately, friendly locals saved my ass.

The trailer I saw for Marty Supreme made it look like a very ordinary, average sports movie about some guy who plays the sportsball. Every other thing I've heard about it since makes me think there's gonna be a lot of very surprised and heavily misled sports movie fans in the audience.

I'm grateful we got to have one last good Christmas with him, and that my last conversation with him was a loving and happy one. He wasn't always the easiest person, but I can be at peace with the way we parted, and I hope he felt the same way.

#death Yesterday my dad died peacefully in his sleep in his care home. He was 84 and struggling badly with the limited mobility he had due to Parkinson's, and he's been telling me he's ready for it to end for two years now. Losing a parent sucks, but I know he wanted to go.
