If Reform had won, Labour's statement would be that this result is a stark reminder we need to listen and learn from voters who rightly feel betrayed by modern politics.

But the Greens won by a comfortable margin, so it's: these voters are stupid and also sinister and, ugh, Muslims

Reform's Trump-style plans for an ICE-like immigration force in the UK will bring only chaos and disorder, not the control our immigration system truly needs.

It’s a three-horse race! First Past the Post isn’t fit for purpose in Gorton and Denton The Gorton and Denton parliamentary by-election, scheduled for Thursday 26 February, has garnered much media attention. The outcome will be closely scrutinised by commentators for what i

The debate in Gorton and Denton has been dominated by tactical questions around which party is best placed to stop another party from winning. All because we have a voting system that fails when more than two candidates stand a chance. buff.ly/gUjPNaQ

Congratulations Hannah. I look forward to seeing what Greens and Liberal Democrat MPs can achieve together in holding this government to account and building something better! πŸ§‘πŸ’š

Until we have proportional representation and ranked choice voting, we need progressive alliances and grown-up cooperation to keep the far-right out and push for a fairer, greener country.

Nigel Farage and Matt Goodwin have already been on their TV shows talking about election fraud and "cheating". Straight out of the Trump playbook, it won't fly here. Britain has rejected fascism before and now it's doing so again.

Labour have completed a similar costume change, by abandoning the left and centre ground of politics, pandering to an ever-shrinking group of right wing voters.

Labour were trusted with a huge majority at the last election because the public roundly rejected the self-serving sleaze of the Tories. Those same Tories have now all joined Reform and have managed to convince their base that they've totally changed!

There’s an important lesson here: progressive parties cannot afford to fight each other while the far right organises. The work of Green Liberal Democrats shows that there is real common ground between Greens and Lib Dems, especially on climate, fairness, and electoral reform.

Tackling inequality and injustice has always been at the heart of why I got involved in politics too. Foreigners interfering in our politics is a problem, but not the hardworking migrants that Reform point and screech at - it's the likes of Musk, Bezos, Putin, and Trump that are the biggest threat.

What really struck me was Hannah’s focus on inequality and injustice. Calling out the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, and speaking up for those who are too often ignored, is exactly the kind of politics we need more of.

At a time when the far-right is trying to divide our communities and drag our politics backwards, voters chose something better. They chose fairness, tolerance and respect. They chose to reject Reform's brand of grievance politics and say clearly that Manchester stands for inclusion, not exclusion.

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰I’m absolutely delighted to see Hannah Spencer and the Green Party win in Gorton and Denton last night!

I obviously would've preferred a Liberal Democrat but as we've never had a presence in the constituency and I'm thrilled to see a fellow progressive party do so well.

It looks as if the government might have finally listened to Lib Dem calls for a profit cap on SEND providers.

For too long the SEND private market has been a rigged racket. Hopefully this change will mark the end of our vulnerable children being treated like cash cows.

Ed’s been here in Sussex campaigning for the county elections.

In both East and West Sussex it’s the Lib Dems who have shown we can beat both the Conservatives and Reform.

Come and join us!
