Another way to put might be that Vigil makes art outside of formal commercial constraints, & what you see is simply what he likes to draw, & he knows from experience that there are folks who are ready, willing, & able to purchase whatever he comes up with, thereby providing him with an income.

My impression is that they’re essentially personal/self-assigned, skill-building/-demonstrating projects/homages intended for sale. But I don’t know for sure. Some might be commissions.
