If you want to know whether Trump’s tariff threats are a violation of the principle of non-intervention, Chapter 3 of my book might be of interest. It explores what coercion is and whether economic coercion is unlawful under customary int’l law and the OAS Charter

Another stop in the non-intervention tour. In 1968, Wenceslas Square in Prague became a focal point of resistance against the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. After the Prague Spring was suppressed, Brezhnev proclaimed his doctrine of limited sovereignty.

Did you know that, although never formally recognised by the Catholic Church, the monarchs of France, Spain and Austria claimed a jus exclusivae, ie, the right to veto a particular candidate to the papacy? See Chap. 1 of my book #nonintervention #conclave

Exclusive: US could cut Ukraine's access to Starlink internet services over minerals, say sources Ukraine's access to SpaceX-owned Starlink was brought up in talks between U.S. and Ukrainian officials after Ukrainian President Zelenskiy turned down an initial proposal from U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent.

This looks a lot like economic coercion to me, prohibited by the principle of non-intervention (as codified in the UN Friendly Relations Declarations) and by Art. 3 of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum www.reuters.com/business/us-...

A call to make international humanitarian law a political priority ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric outlines the pressing need for states to join the Global Initiative on international humanitarian law.

The growing normalization of violations of international humanitarian law poses an existential threat to int'l law.

We invite states to step up to their responsibility, reverse this trend & join our global initiative to reinvigorate political commitment for #IHL.
