So for example “Sharpe’s Eldritch Exchange” that I ran @the-kraken.bsky.social a couple of years back is 6 pages including flow chart for the various scenes/locations, plus handouts. If it’s a published scenario I just have a hand drawn locations and clues mind map.

2 column is the way to go. Somehow makes a huge difference to condensing the content.

Honestly given a lot of players don’t have time until they sit down at the table, that’s maybe better! 😃

I usually do a one pager with images and brief descriptions for each character. If your ethical code permits it’s also fun to get AI to animate the images, add voiceover and make a short video pitch that introduces the scenario and the PCs.

I grew up playing D&D with my blind father. It’s the perfect game for them - theatre of the mind. You will need to explain their character sheet and pass them dice to roll & announce results. Handouts must be read, maps described. A braille version of 5e is available, so this is not unusual.

The weakness of so called GMless games is the story will only be as good as the least capable player’s storytelling. So unless you’re all experienced GMs, the experience will not be optimal. Even with good GMs at the table you experience editorial and stylistic variation between them.

Based on how LLMs work saying “please” ought to slightly skew the choice - most likely the friendliness and style - of the response, so it’s not entirely redundant.

For him “min campaign” meant 5-8 sessions. For me 15 to 20 - in my mind “mini” meant NOT 50!

This is apt, 8 sessions into my The One Ring Moria campaign the hero’s have just unlocked the Dimrill door. The hobbit: “2 or 3 more sessions is all I can commit to”, The dwarves: “we have no preconceptions to length” 😃

True, maybe only 2 or 3 conventions as such, after all Zürich for example is only the same size as Bristol.

I think there is often an issue when grognards write for grognards. I ran a WFRP 1e campaign for years so 4e made perfect sense to me, but I was jumping all over using the index - armour for example is explained on page 299! Why?

The 4th edition needs editing and isn’t that accessible if you’ve not played it before (like a lot of us have) - I’m supportive of a new version that refines 4th with incremental improvements.
