Is the creation of a spray shark-repellant, as seen in Batman the Movie (1966), scientifically possible?
In all seriousness, are there any odors that sharks will actively avoid? Would be interesting if they've adapted to avoid oil, for example. Thanks!
If you have benefited from science and live in the US, please consider signing @standupforscience.bsky.social open letter regarding the EO issued on May 23rd! www.standupforscience.net/open-letter-...
26.05.2025 16:16 โ ๐ 42 ๐ 16 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1Let me be very clear - transparent and rigorous science is not possible under the current administration. Part of the "gold standard" of health research is including a diverse study population - biology is not "one size fits all"!

Roundtable this Wed at the US Senate, on how Trump and Musk are killing research like cancer and Alzheimerโs research.
2:30pm Eastern. There is a livestream.
This would be better in primetime and produced for TV, like the Jan 6 Committee did.
But itโs a good start from @baldwin.senate.gov.
We'd love to hear from you!!!
One of my reasons? Science helps me balance my brain chemistry so I can study how colon cancer interacts with neighboring healthy tissue, and figure out better ways to kill the cancer without hurting the patient! #storeboughtserotonin #mentalhealthmatters #CRCresearch
This is what we mean when we say cutting NIH funding will cost lives. Cancer patients and their families are having the rug pulled from under them.

06.03.2025 03:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This administration is anything but committed to creating a Nation free of cancer.
