Well, since you said anything...

Is the creation of a spray shark-repellant, as seen in Batman the Movie (1966), scientifically possible?

In all seriousness, are there any odors that sharks will actively avoid? Would be interesting if they've adapted to avoid oil, for example. Thanks!

Let me be very clear - transparent and rigorous science is not possible under the current administration. Part of the "gold standard" of health research is including a diverse study population - biology is not "one size fits all"!

Roundtable this Wed at the US Senate, on how Trump and Musk are killing research like cancer and Alzheimerโ€™s research.

2:30pm Eastern. There is a livestream.

This would be better in primetime and produced for TV, like the Jan 6 Committee did.
But itโ€™s a good start from @baldwin.senate.gov.

One of my reasons? Science helps me balance my brain chemistry so I can study how colon cancer interacts with neighboring healthy tissue, and figure out better ways to kill the cancer without hurting the patient! #storeboughtserotonin #mentalhealthmatters #CRCresearch

This is what we mean when we say cutting NIH funding will cost lives. Cancer patients and their families are having the rug pulled from under them.

The original poster had found out that their training grant supporting their dissertation work was rescinded. The reasoning provided was unrelated to their work. I am unsure why the post was deleted.

"Ask a Scientist" type events where we hang out at our local breweries with science enthusiasts and talk about what we do.
Maybe another thing could be working with our local habitat for humanity branches as volunteers - to have a direct positive impact that the commuycam see?

This administration is anything but committed to creating a Nation free of cancer. The ongoing funding freeze is causing clinical trials to be stopped, and the attack on diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility has made conducting representative studies impossible.

"The White House can lie all they want about how they're not stopping cancer research," the NIH source said, "but they're stopping cancer research on [NIH's] Bethesda campus."

Can confirm. The many shifting rules and EOs and bans do seem designed to stop cancer research at #NIH.
