10.11.2025 11:02 — 👍 2 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0Ah, good point — you’re right! bench::mark() only sees what happens inside R, so it misses memory used by the Rust side of Polars.
29.10.2025 00:07 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0⚡ Results:
* dplyr: ~12–80s 🐢
* duckplyr: ~2–10s 🚀
* polars: ~1.8–10s 🚀🚀
* dbplyr: 47–171s 😬 (but i'm probably bad at it)
💾 Memory:
* dplyr: up to 2,099 MB
* dbplyr: ~2 GB
* duckplyr: up to 675 MB
* polars: as low as 35 MB ✨
👨💻 Started to work with big data and did some benchmarks with medium datasets (400k–3.5M rows, up to 490 MB). 📊 tl;dr → polars (lazy) is crazy efficient; duckplyr is a solid R-native alternative. Thinking of pushing this further with larger datasets 💡#DataScience #RStats #Python

After years in academia, I’m looking forward to bringing my social science perspective into projects that help inform society and policymakers. I’m grateful for my time as a researcher in Germany, but with limited career prospects, moving on felt like the right step. 😄 (3/3)
I'll contribute to projects that inform society/policymakers about trends in internet use in Brazil—bringing my social science perspective into real-world impact. Our team focuses on mapping connectivity and its quality via automated data collection allowing real-time mapping of connectivity. (2/3)

Finally, my (probably last!) research article has just been published in Zeitschrift für Politikwissenschaft. 🥳 This study explores the relationship between media use, trust, and political orientations. The findings reveal that both media use and trust vary depending on the type of media.
