I think the raw materials are rarer too, you need size and/or technique to consistently plug a running lane and draw two linemen onto you. Even in the NFL an average DT is a rare specimen.

But imo the 4-3 vs 3-4 split doesn’t matter as much anymore, they are mostly some kind of hybrid with nickel

Talk is that they are going through the same process as Sexton did, which deconstructed his kicking technique before coming good.

But goal kicking as a skill has really fallen off in Irish rugby, which would be shocking not too long ago.

this is off the top of the head, so might be a bit inaccurate but it’s in the right area:

Over 30% of US males eligible for the draft were medically invalidated . And this was probably the richest, best fed people in the world at the time !

An important cut off. I wonder how far you would have to go back for it to apply again ?

Mid nineties, early nineties?

From a Western pov of course, lot of places had fewer reasons to be optimistic.

I actually think it’s easier from 2001-2010 ish than to try explain to someone from 2011-2016.

I remember watching/reading a lot of despondent Bush era media and I think most of them would be unsurprised if you described the current world.

But an average 2013 person was much more optimistic imo.

Blizzards paranoia about losing out on the next Dota meant that Warcraft 3 Reforged, a slam dunk if there was any, was a mind boggling failure.

Not the only reason why it failed, but a large one.

From Paris pain to Twickenham triumph | Six Nations 2026 midpoint review Murray Kinsella analyses Ireland’s 2026 Six Nations after the first three rounds of matches: how Andy Farrell’s side bounced back from their Paris nightmare to set themselves up for a shot at silverwa...

How did Ireland go from the doom and gloom of Paris to the joy of Twickenham?

With a Triple Crown now up for grabs, it was great fun putting this interactive analysis together with the team @the42.ie

Helps cut down recovery time after exercise, helps put on size and weight quicker. Possible mental benefits as well, but that link is less studied/proven.
Common side effect is intestinal issues and thirst, but can be ameliorated by drinking more water.

Ehh, creatine has many proven benefits, it’s probably the most studied supplement out there . It is a useful and safe tool for many.

Not to take away from the gist of the Man Cereal eating disorder point.

Which is not a bad place to be in if you are in America's position, considering their inherent strengths. For the rest of the world though ...

Is Meta in any danger if AI doesn’t pan out ? Or is it other reasons causing the precariousness ?I thought they had more money than God.

People tend to say that if the GOP dropped the racism, they would win every election. But isn’t the racism a draw for large chunks of their base ? Like if they aren’t getting that they might vote on other interests.

Although in America I suppose I should separate anti-black and generic racism.

A 2023 tweet:
every european election
The People’s Democrats (center-right) 31 per cent
Soviet Worker’s Party (center/center-left) 22 per cent
Citizen’s Forum (fascist) 19%
Wow! (Center) 11 per cent
Friendship is Magic (left) - nine per cent
Green Partt - eight per cent

This remains a good, tongue in cheek guide, though the centre-right is doing worse across the board than it was then, while the Greens are taking the β€œFriendship is Magic” vote in addition to their traditional core.

One of the few things I know about Maine is a saw a picture of an old guy at a protest with a sign saying β€œI love my Ar-15 and my trans son”, which I assume is the median Maine voter.

I wish I knew more about economics, I wonder if β€œAI” can cause a downturn/crash not by it’s bubble bursting, but by crowding out other markets.

Just another grudge to add to the book as I try coax out a few more years out of my pc.
