Saturday 11:27 pm: Radar:
08.03.2026 05:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 11:24 pm: Thus far, the potential of heavy rainfall has not occurred. A few spots had at or above 1β (yellow through red colors) of rain. Much of the area through 11 pm had little or no rain. Showers are still possible now to Sunday, but no widespread heavy totals.
08.03.2026 05:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Saturday 10:55 pm: Showers now extended from the World Trade Bridge northeast to near Botines (near Tourist Bureau on I-35).
08.03.2026 04:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was correct about daylight time starting in late April, but it did not end until late October in the late 1960βs. Leaves were just coming out (or about to come out) as daylight time began!
08.03.2026 04:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Growing up in Connecticut, I liked it better when daylight time would begin in late April and end, I believe, in late September. Sunrise was early enough by late April to not present us with dark early mornings. Same with ending late September. More of a summer treat!
08.03.2026 04:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Saturday 10:32 pm: Scattered strong thunderstorms produced hail in a few areas from west of Zapata, northeast of San Ygnacio, and northeast Webb County east through Freer. A band of showers are forming from west of Laredo through Webb County north of hwy 59.
08.03.2026 04:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 9:53 pm: A small fading shower is crossing the river on the Mines Road up to the World Trade Bridge.
08.03.2026 03:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 9:26 pm: Showers/thunderstorms moving into the Zapata/Siesta Shores area, another is exiting San Ygnacio.
08.03.2026 03:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 8:50 pm: Thunderstorms are becoming more common over Zapata County and showers are developing northeastward to near Freer. .6β diameter hail suggested by radar in northwest Zapata County, south side of Freer May have had .5β-1β diameter hail.
08.03.2026 02:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 8:13 pm: Cold front arrived at 7:40 pm, gusts >30 mph, blowing dust, leaves. Temperature lowering through the 70βs, 60βs later this evening. Showers/thunderstorms will likely increase near the front and in moist air above the cool air north of the front. Will watch.
08.03.2026 02:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 6:48 pm: Thunderstorms are developing where the cumulus had been growing:
08.03.2026 00:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 6:17 pm: Cumulus are growing to our east, just showing on radar in Webb County, strong thunderstorm in McMullen County.
08.03.2026 00:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Saturday 5:21 pm: Most thunderstorms are near and north of cold front. New cumulus are growing taller near and in moist air flowing north, south of the front. Will watch if the growing clouds blossom into tall rain clouds.
07.03.2026 23:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 4:41 pm: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 11 pm for the chance that some of the thunderstorms that develop over our part of south Texas could become severe, produce high winds and hail with the strongest cells. Will watch how this evolves.
07.03.2026 22:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Saturday 3:21 pm: Big Picture Weathermap: Thunderstorms, some possibly strong with cold front arrival at ~8 pm, potential of several hours of heavy rain/lightning following the front, will watch how this evolves.
07.03.2026 21:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Saturday 2:25 pm: Cold front is through Del Rio, passing through San Antonio. Warm moist air rising above a counterclockwise flow of cooler air at the surface may produce several hours of heavy rain/lightning following any thunderstorms with front at ~8 pm. Will watch.
07.03.2026 20:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saturday 12:15 pm: Cold front is through the Hill Country p, nearing Austin. Front arrives in Laredo ~8 pm. Our best chance of thunderstorms, some possibly strong, is from ~7-10 pm.

07.03.2026 17:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Happy to have this book in my collection. The essay that introduces tour of the size of things is outstanding as is the writing accompanying each image of the tour!
07.03.2026 16:07 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Saturday 9:51 pm: Clearing, hot, 90βs this afternoon. Cold front arrives ~7-8 pm. Moist air lifting as front arrives may produce scattered strong thunderstorms. Lifted moist air above the cooler air behind the front may bring decent rain/lightning through 9 or 10 pm. Will watch.
07.03.2026 15:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fog was immediately gone, felt like spring, couldnβt wait to get home to see what the temperature was! Stayed in the 50βs much of the night!

07.03.2026 05:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I played ice hockey on a pond in Westport, CT on a December morning. Thick fog, very low visibility in the afternoon as a warm front approached. Late afternoon on my paper route, the warm front arrived, strong breeze from the south, temperature jumped into the 50βs. Vivid memory from 57+ years ago!

06.03.2026 23:14 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Friday 3:03 pm: Big Picture Weathermap: 90βs this pm. A deeper layer of gulf air arrives tonight with low cloud in the morning. Cold front moving into Texas will lift the moist air into tall rain clouds, thunderstorms (hail/wind with strongest ones) in our area 6-10 pm Saturday.
06.03.2026 21:04 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Friday 12:38 pm: Just Because Department: Quite the sharp contrast in temperature with cold front over eastern Nebraska:
06.03.2026 18:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Friday 9:38 am: Drier hot air just to our west will mix in, clearing skies, lower late pm humidity, mid/high 90βs. Moisture returns as front entering Texas reaches us Saturday evening with good chance of showers/thunderstorms, some possibly strong.
06.03.2026 15:40 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thursday 4:12 pm: Big Picture Weathermap: A cap of warm air aloft will likely shut down updrafts feeding showers before they could reach our area tonight (will watch, just in case). Our best shower chance is with cold front in Rockies moving into our area Saturday night/Sunday.
