Are we living in a golden age of stupidity?
From brain-rotting videos to AI creep, every technological advance seems to make it harder to work, remember, think and function independently β¦
Actually AI makes real learning much more difficult, as the human brain needs friction in order to grasp concepts
Not sure if you are interested in learning something yourself, but in case you do, I recommend this wonderful article in the subject: www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

I'm also doing that a lot. I started to believe this "super productivity" that we force into our lives does much more damage to our wellbeing than we previously thought
Also, what are we saving all that time for? Endless scrolling on social media slop?

The Majority AI View - Anil Dash
A blog about making culture. Since 1999.
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

Ah ok, good reasons I can see! I was asking because I was a bit annoyed about pdfium bundle size, but I guess there's no alternatives to that right

It would be nice if people started tagging AI content on Bluesky so I could easily block it.
Right now there's no way other then unfollowing the person

Sorry, but I don't understand the reasoning, as it still uses pdfiumandroid for the rendering, so what's the difference?

I mean, we Brazilians knew for a long long time now that Dengue spreads in warm weather... so, this result is kind of obvious right?
(although the obvious may be harder to tell in this post truth world we live)

ok, I see your point now. But just out of curiosity, why migrate it to Swift?
If I was going to write a server, I would be tempted to use Swift because it's my favorite language, but I wonder why converting from Python
10.09.2025 13:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Sure, but you wouldn't write mobile code in Python to start with, so that doesn't matter much for me
10.09.2025 11:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I cannot do that with big chunks of code, because it will eventually use the wrong concepts for the different platform, but if I'm careful enough and apply it bit by bit it works quite well (2/2)
09.09.2025 13:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I don't really trust AI tools with coding (and when I did it came back to bite me), but I'm finding it quite good for translation, so it's quite useful in Multiplatform code. I often write something in Swift because it's more familiar to me, and just ask it to convert to Kotlin. (1/2)

I thought chrome dev tools support was removed from newer versions of react native
At least my setup completely stopped working after I updated
02.09.2025 20:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I'm currently struggling with profiling after latest react native updates. Before, I would connect with normal chrome dev tools, and get this beautiful flame chart, which was very good to find bottlenecks in the legacy JS code I maintain.
Now, that's gone, and the new one works very differently

Does that mean EAS builds will get faster as well? Because that currently doesnβt happen for Android.
If I read correctly, Android already has this, and my local builds are super fast, but building in EAS is very very slow

Hey, quick question, I have a bunch of custom expo modules already. If I move to new_arch, do I need to update them? Or will they "just work"?

I really like the debug feature, but the extension is unusable on my MacBook Air. CPU goes to 100% and it gets super hot. I'm not sure what's wrong, because debugging using normal Dev tools work fine
I guess I'll try again once I buy a MacBook Pro or Max π€·

I think surfing might be the Dark Souls of sports. You keep failing failing and failing, but at each step going a little further, and just want to keep going back and trying again and again
(or perhaps more like Elden Ring, since there's almost no fall damage)

Agree. I'm not sure how SwitfUI support is nowadays, but it usually meant you are locked away from many features, having to resort to hacks to access some of them
Doing a wrapper on top of another wrapper makes me question the viability of this library other than very small use cases
