There was a popular hippies book in the '70s called Chop Wood Carry Water. It was a practical manual as well as a philosophical book. I almost went off grid in the '80s. I still use the philosophy. When the going gets tough, focus on the essentials. Clean the house, etc.

Corruption still rules Texas.
The last 96 hours have proven that Trump and the GOP Administration will not survive this Iranian War. The House of cards is collapsing. The incompetence and arrogance is taking them down. Karma has arrived.

I don't fear or our safety, I fear for our sanity. It's almost becoming unsustainable.

Need any more evidence that Trump doesn't give a damn about us citizens?

โI'm more convinced now that this is going to be open-ended and forever," Sen. Chris Murphy.
โIโm more convinced now that this is going to be open-ended and forever. This feels like a multi-trillion-dollar open-ended conflict with a very confusing and constantly shifting set of goals.โ
I wouldn't call it a moment of weakness. I'm sure we will stick it out and fight like hell to the end. But it's insane to think we were even contemplating HAVING to leave. That says a lot in and of itself.
It's pretty much obliterated our lives, but we have each other and our community on BlueSky.
You said it first (grin). I was going to say the same but we decided to drown our heads in Sandham Murders, Swedish series. We're watching the entire series all over from the beginning. 11 seasons.
We are introverts & isolate ourselves. Besides news, BlueSky provides a community. Moments of sanity.

GREAT NEWS: In yet another Democratic upset, Alex Holladay has defeated his Republican opponent in the special election to represent Arkansasโs House District 70.
This is a flip from ๐ด to ๐ต.
Where is this coming from?

$50 billion supplemental budget over a $1 trillion budget. And Trump is doing nothing other than handing it over to Netanyahu with no strings attached.
Might I remind everyone who put that money in the pot, you and me.
We have also contemplated getting off BlueSky, our only social media. But the stress of not knowing, is as bad or worse than knowing what's going on.
Today was overwhelming. It was like five alarm fire every 2 hours. These kind of days seem to be stacking up. Iranian War is a fiasco beyond measure.
I used to live in Forest Grove and pick strawberries as a teenager. Make $10 a day. Ruined all of our t-shirts.

I just thought of an absurd post.
Imagine Americans looking for asylum in OTHER countries.
That's just about where we're at right now. Ironic as hell.
I can't remember how many times I've written "unsustainable" in my posts. It really is the bottom line. It's a House of cards and it's collapsing.
When we can't even recognize that we have a madman with the nuclear launch codes, what more can be said?

They always tested out. Look for the reaction. Look for the pushback. Like all cowards, they're looking for the easy way out, not the right thing to do.
His argument is two wrongs make a right.
You know mine. I don't know yours, but I know it's of concern. It's a big factor for everyone our age. One of the biggest expenses & potential for bad outcomes.
Two things I've always said that seem insurmountable: the amount of money behind this corruption & the breadth & depth of the corruption.
