the FFXIV developers literally let an npc essentially say "the word souq means city" in shadowbringers so I don't get why any of you would think this is a sincere attempt at anything. they are willfully ignorant they are not trying here.

moreover I hate this community for more than just orientalism. I have a right to anger & hurt & hate when a community is repeatedly misogynistic & racist & willfully ignorant. If you yourself aren't such, then instead of coming to me it would be better to go after players who perpetuate bigotry.

I'm sorry but you can research all of this yourself, I and many others have tried to educate people on this for many years within this community and very often our efforts are met with either mockery, over defensiveness, spite, or shutdown by willful ignorance both by players and the developers.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this, it means a lot and genuinely helps soothe the ache in my heart tremendously. I'm extremely serious, this whole ordeal has been legitimately devastating to me, so seeing someone say all of this in my stead means the absolute world.

I didn't go to the concert as it was too far from my city, but I remember him talking about this before too ! iirc, it was for the environments in gyr abania initially.. it's genuinely so so devastating.

Again, I don't mean to take this in bad faith, I very much so believe your thread wasn't written with ill intent, it's just that unfortunately, it perpetuates very harmful behavior, derailing from the actual discussion leads to callousness and apathy toward racial insensitivity within the game.

rather than outright acknowledging it as the racial issue that it is, can and has paved the way for a lot of indifference and racial harm within the community and game development. (8/8)

As an individual example, I know that as an arab, I felt deeply hurt seeing the lack of regard the playerbase at large had to things such as Ala Mhigo being treated as an afterthought both by the game and the community itself (6/8)
