Colour illustration in purples, pinky oranges and some hints of blue, in horizontal A4 format.
It depicts a cave interior in which appears Adar crouching down at the left of the image, a bonfire before him, extending his hands to recreate shadow-shapes in the wall of a cave before a crowd of young Uruks (from babies to teens), who are sitting before him. They seem to be very invested in the story Adar is telling, supporting it with the shadows he is projecting on the wall. Behind the crowd there is an old Uruk who wears an animal skull over her head painting the wall of the cave with red figures depicting Uruks wielding weapons and accompanied by the blue figures of wargs, under a crescent moon at the top of the painted scene.
The source of light is the bonfire (in bright white) which is releasing star-shaped sparks to the ceiling, one of them placed right where the shadow of the warg-hed projected on the wall would have its eye.

After 'destroying' Sauron in Forodwaith, the Uruks travelled to the South. Many dangers left their numbers diminished, so they took shelter in a cave system inside the Misty Mountains... where they stayed for centuries.

There, Adar made sure to pass the old Uruk stories to the new generations✨🐺πŸ”₯

text: β€œThe high hills look as though a giant hand has thrown an old blanket over them to hide
their shame. Far below them in the one main street, shops have closed in a debris of bleached advertisements and broken glass.
There are derelict houses, derelict chapels, and though a hand has written 'Free Wales' on a wall, it has done so in discreet small
letters in case someone might.
This is a place of the dead.”

I sometimes think "should I find a way of gently explaining the fandom stuff so it doesn't scare people?" and then conclude, eh, no, it's a fandom account, they'll find out in their own time.

The kidnapping of General von Kriepe in Crete is a hell of a story, though anything featuring Patrick Leigh Fermor is always a hell of a story.

I really recommend Storygraph as a way to track reading, btw (and apparently for some deeply odd people to stalk my reading habits as proof for why my fandom elf opinions are bad and wrong but πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ). If you're on there too I'm 'bilberry'. It's free to sign up, or Plus gives you more stats for Β£3/month.

sometimes layers of erotic metaphor are there because the author is into something weirder than fucking and sometimes layers of erotic metaphor are there because the author can’t look at fucking too directly and i think plenty of people who think they’re the former are actually the latter
