A post from my tumblr, anonyanonymouse, that says: MalleSil spoils of war AU, but where Malleus is the spoils... I'm shuffling around a lot of things, but Malleus is still roughly the same age as canon, Silver is a kid for now. Henryk has taken power after the king died, but instead of outright killing KoD and Leah, they're kept as captive figure heads who nobody in the budding country knows are powerless behind the scenes. KoD kills Meleanor, and after the faes final defense is fallen, they launch an attack on the remaining ones left. Very, very few survive to scatter across the world. Malleus is wounded and, rather than killing him, they slice both horns off, chain him down and drag him back to their rulers. He reverts to his dragon form, without the magic to keep up his human one. He's kept as Henryk's playing, put out for the countrymen to mock and laugh at. The poor fae, who could never hope to be as strong as mighty humans... But Silver is curious about the dragon, and very sweet and gentle with it whenever he's allowed to go near (or, more likely, when he wanders off without permission). Malleus gets so little pity and kindness, that he really takes to Silver as he grows. And Silver will realize the severity of Malleus' abuse more as he gets older too, checking in on him often and always making sure he is at least fed and his wounds are cleaned. As a couple decades go by, little bits of Malleus' horns grow back, and he's able to use just enough magic that he can speak in fragments with Silver. He'll convince him to steal the magic staff giving Henryk his power, so that he can heal Malleus and set him free. And of course, when Silver does it, Malleus kidnaps him to keep as his own while he plots his revenge after all those years <3

It's not Meleanor. It's Malleus next to Lilia. Malleus: What's the matter? Lilia looks far into the distance. Lilia: Nothing. I just remembered something from so long ago. I really am getting old... Malleus reaches his hand out.

Malleus holds Lilia's face, gently. Then he says, Malleus: You know I will always love you. The moon is so bright. Malleus: You know that, don't you?

Lilia pulls away, laughing. Lilia: You should be going to sleep, Malleus. Children shouldn't be awake at this hour... Malleus takes insult to this. Malleus: What are you talking about? I'm not a child and this is MY party! A host can't go to sleep before his guests! Lilia is trying not to look in Malleus's direction because of the way his face looks in that moment. How strange it all is, the way the spinning wheel turns, the way time seems to go forwards but backwards all at once.

Meleanor cackles while Lilia remains silent. He's trying not to look in Meleanor's direction, especially with the way his face looks in that moment. Then, he feels Meleanor's presence and she's suddenly up close, looking at him. Meleanor: And yet, you will always love me, won't you?

Meleanor whispers in Lilia's ear. Meleanor: Tell me that you will, Lilia. That was all long ago. Hundreds of years ago, if you can believe it. We jump to the present. Lilia is staring up at a similar starlit night. A voice calls his name.
