Heres a @usafacts.org post with no link back: bsky.app/profile/usaf...

I know the first post in the series is the link back to the article. I'm just saying any image you want to post can be a link back.

And we want a "share this image" link available to article readers so that they also can do the same -- they can share the image link on social media, it will show the image correctly as a preview, but it is always a link back to the original content.

If you do that, then instead of posting an image file, you post a link back to the article and show the image you want as the metadata preview for the article. Users will navigate to the correct location inside the article and are now on your site.

What you want to do instead is modify the article link with a query string parameter or fragment that will both navigate the user to the desired image inside the article, *and* tell the server to swap out the usual metadata preview for this image.

Great info @usafacts.org

This post is a good example of something I suggested earlier. This image appears in the article usafacts.org/answers/how-..., but the metadata preview for that article is a different image. So you share an actual image and have no link back to your site.

That's nice, works great too!

Finally, for every page, think of five questions for which this page would be an answer (even misguided questions), and create metrics around where the first link to usafacts falls in popular search engines for each question, and work on those metrics.

Thanks for all your great work! Keep it up!

Second, provide an embed for graphics, so that other sites can directly embed graphics with an attribution you can control.

Update the site to that direct links to this url also surface the image file as the metadata preview for the the page, so that social media platforms will correctly show the graphic as the preview for the link.

Make most informative graphics easily sharable. Every graphic you think others could employ in their own posts, have a copy link button, that is a url with a hash that leads to the page and scrolls to the graphic.

@usafacts.org I really appreciate what you are trying to do here, and it jibes with intuitions about what we need in this country right now.

I'd like to see USAFacts everywhere, and so I think it would be great to see a few strategy changes to improve the visibility of this content:
