Hey folks, if you're able, help out a fellow Brazilian and a wonderful artist stay afloat in these trying times.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

An explainer on where to start with Claudie Arseneault’s books decorated in aromantic and asexual colours. It contains information about 3 series starters.
City of Strife (City of Spires) has a large cast of queer characters; mosaic-style POV, is novel length, has four books that form one big continuous story, and contains city politics and unrelenting kindness + love in the face of cruelty
Baker Thief (Val-de-mer) has a limited # of POV (dual for Baker Thief), is novel length, all books stand alone, and is set in a city inspired by QuΓ©bec, with romance tropes but made platonic
Awakenings (the Chronicles of Nerezia) has a single main POV, is made of novellas, has an episodic format that works better read in order, and is JRPG inspired, with a found family road trip

I have so many series! Just SO MUCH queer fantasy with platonic relationships at their heart <3 The below is as much information as I could cram in about them, and it doesn't even get to COMMON BONDS or my own short story collection. XD

Meredith Novaco made several good videos on it (LauraRaeSays too). He transitioned several months after it all started, so Milo has a different name early on.

He put out a book that was very subpar all while bragging how he was a brilliant writing prodigy and that everyone who tried to give him helpful advice was an ill-informed, jealous hater and that he was running a 6 figure business. It didn't go well for him.

In his case, it was just a shit ton of book preorders rather than youtube or tiktok money

Have said this before in other forms, but will reiterate it here: if you're doing long-form writing of any sort, reading the words aloud into a microphone is a completely unparalleled cheat code. It's free, easy, and so effective it feels like it shouldn't be allowed. I do it in a few stages...

This. It REALLY rubbed me the wrong way how he wouldn't listen to literally anyone and got so nasty with people who tried to help him.
Any author that completely foregoes being part of any writing community is red flag

I think one of Milo's biggest follies was paying people to play in his sandbox thinking they were there voluntarily and that they were as invested as he is rather than employees who were paid to participate. You can't pay for friends.

Yeah, I've seen some whispers about Sauli falling off in Sept-Dec due to money issues and such. Milo better have paid his artists since his whole schtick was supporting artists >.>

Someone on Tumblr made a timeline of his behavior, and he seems to be on a 3 month chaos cycle, so I'm assuming in May or June he will pop back up again

Yeah, his hubris makes him completely unsympathetic in this situation. If he listened to literally anyone, he wouldn't be in this situation or at least not as bad off.
If I had that kind of money, I'd pay off my partner's student loans, buy a new car, and still have years of money to live off 🫠

LauraRaeSay's latest video calculates that Milo Winter made about $177,000, and I still cannot believe he blew that much in like 6 months 🫠
Bruh, even withholding taxes, I could live off that for like... 4 years easily. The waste... the privilege... the *incoherent screeching*

My photo shows a museum display with colourful Minoan pottery cups arranged on three clear shelves, one above the other. These cups, known as Kamares Ware, are from Phaistos, Crete. They were made in palace workshops, c. 1800-1700 BC. The cups range in shape and size from conic and cylindrical cups (top and middle shelves) to hemispherical and carinated shaped cups (bottom shelf). They are decorated with multi-coloured geometric motifs; with spirals and swirls painted in red and white pigment on black.

Sipping my coffee β˜•οΈ and thinking about these marvellous Minoan cups!

They look so modern it’s incredible to think they were made during the Bronze Age some 3,800 years ago!

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going β€œwow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic
