I just watched “The Men Who Made America” on Paramount Plus. Our current billionaires feel very much like our 1900 robber barons.

It’s the insiders that will shed light on all of this in the end.

You have to apply for a visa. Isn’t this process to vet people who apply? They are time limited, usually lasting for the length of the degree program. We want them to stay after, right?

It’s horrific that one person could ever have such a negative impact on civil society.

This doesn’t make sense. Businesses seem to want international students to come because they can be paid less and manipulated more after earning a degree.

Why is the new rhetoric drawing distinctions between trade schools and colleges? Do they not know that most community colleges offer trades associate degrees (60 cr) and certificates (30 cr)? Why shouldn’t these folks accumulate college credits? They may want to count them someday toward a degree.

He hurt a lot of working people today. Retired people with a modest nest egg watched their balances dwindle 20,000 one day and 30,000 the next. Some made the decision to sell protecting the 80% that they still had. They locked in their losses while bargain hunters swooped in. Big transfer of wealth.

Transfer of wealth from scared retirees directly to billionaires looking for “deals.”

I wonder if they even feel bad for the retiree who sold on the way down because they could not tolerate the risk. Real people, real losses. They basically just gave 20% of their money to the people who knew to wait.
