It’s not just “an attack”. It was murder. The misinformation following it was spread by Reform and racists online. The BBC may have exacerbated by reporting on it, true, because they don’t always get the balance right, but the blame is more with Reform, Daily Mail etc.

Aren’t ALL stories about their own characters and events? Themes and ideas rise out of the characters and events. Not everything has to be Dostoevsky. It’s a coming of age for Luke, all that stuff.

I’m old, but it’s my favourite comics run of all time. Peak Moore and Davis.

It reads like they had big plans but got word of cancellation so had to compress several planned episodes into one.

It is a bit odd that it’s continued so long - I can imagine most people are bemused by it. And it does look a bit tatty, to be fair.

Davis and Delano! Jamie D went on to create Hellblazer after this. Now, I’m old so I may be misremembering, but I think at the time there was some talk of Marvel US doing the Jaspers storyline bigger once they saw how good it was. In the end, they just reprinted for the US market.

That’s such a good page. Alan Davis rapidly evolved from a scrappy, rough and ready newcomer to a smooth seasoned pro in a matter of months.

Just stumbled on your posts. Very impressed that you’re discovering 80s Captain Britain. I was about 12 when this came out and it was the most brilliant thing I’d ever seen. It’s hard to convey how different it was to everything that came before. A quantum leap in comics.

I am so pleased, you can’t imagine. I bought the pictured with my first paycheck as a teacher back 1991 or 2. Over 30 years later, it’s still in great condition. I can’t wait for the new series!

Legalisation or decriminalisation? The first would mean having to introduce legal overview like with cigarettes and alcohol. Decriminalisation would mean not prosecuting for possession and treating it like a public health issue instead, I think?
